TRAI advises to reduce call charges 35% and SMS charges 80% when on Roaming

Mobile Customers can make reduced tariff calls and SMS while in roaming. 

Telecom Regulator Authority of India (TRAI) suggests slashing in call and SMS charges for mobile subscribers when on roaming. Right now, this proposal made by TRAI has sought comments from stakeholders to be submitted by March, 2013. Customers use to pay roaming charges for outgoing calls, sms and receiving calls, sms while on roaming. TRAI proposes to slash calls rates from Rs.1 to 65 paisa per minute for Local voice calls and STD calls to be cut to Rs.1 per minute from Rs.1.5 per minute during roaming. The proposed tariff for incoming calls while on roaming reduces to 45 paisa per minute from 0.75 paisa per minute.

In the same way, for SMS charge 20 paisa and 25 paisa per SMS respectively for both Local and STD SMS from Rs.1 per SMS and Rs.1.50 per SMS for Local and STD while on roaming.
