BSNL Dakshin Kannada Telecom to ease bandwidth to 349 gram panchayats

BSNL Deputy General Manager of Dakshina Kannada Telecom District involved in connecting all the 349 gram panchayats on Optical Fibre Network Project to facilitate Modi’s Digital India programme.

State run Telecom Company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will facilitate Digital India programme of the Government of India providing the suitable infrastructure to the rural areas for extending the services for information technology and its tools thus breaking the digital divide.
DGM of Dakshina Kannada N Vishweshwara Bhat, ‘The work being taken up under Digital India Week of India’s National Optical Fibre Network Project.’ Around 470kms of fibre laying and connecting equipment are being setup under the project. This will ease bandwidth to the gram panchayats in Dakhina Kannada and Udupi revenue districts’ said.

BSNL Dakshina Kannada has planned to install Next Generation Network (NGN) exchanges at eight locations i.e Bykampady, Surathkal, Urwa, Kodikal, Manipal, Udupi, Ajjarkad and Brahmavar. NGN will improve the features on the BSNL Landline network using IP switching and thus enabling all types of services like Voice, Video, Data, Multimedia, messaging, content delivery, mobility, broadcasting, multicasting and other types of communication services, NV Bhat said.

In selected relevant locations BSNL Dakshina Kannada has planned to install Free WiFi multiple Hotspots to offer WiFi services where Mangaluru Airport been taken up for extending the facility, he added
