‘Do Not Call Registry’

A great relief to those customers who are getting Pesky calls and un wanted IVRS calls - un subscribed text messages (SMS) and this will no longer will continue more.
The TRAI framed rules and have been amnded to its previous regulations and forwarded clear instructions to all the operators in this cause. This is going to stop from september 27 onwards.
"DoT has provided '140XXXXXX  number series to be allocated to telemarketers. All Operators instructed will have to add '140XXXXX before the STD code, BSNL is now passed orders to their Telecom Circles to implement the same and it may take little longer in this case due to challenges in implementing the new numbering plan with BSNL landline services, said BSNL main officer.
BSNL now on the way against telemarketing companies for making unsolicited calls or SMSes to a consumer registered under the NCPR – a modified version of Trai's 'Do Not Call Registry' list. Trai has identified eight categories — banking and financial products, real estate, education, health, consumer goods, automobiles, communication and entertainment, tourism and leisure.

Further, the regulator has reduced the periodicity for subscriber to change their preference in NCPR to seven days from three months.
The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) said all service providers are ready to implement the revised guidelines on mobile services networks as per the guidelines given by the Trai, but it will be a big challenge on Basic Landline phones.
