Top Three Mobile Operators lost 7.10 million subscribers

Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has revealed data report that leading Mobile Operators in India, Bharati Airtel, Vodafone and Idea lost a total of over 7.10 million subscribers and 68% of the GSM market in August.
Top Mobile Operator in India Bharati Airtel lost 1.90 million users with a 27.8% market share end of month August, 2012.
The COAI has not added the report for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for the month of Aguust only said that this operator is increasing its connection every month.

  • MTNL lost 103,553 users at the end of month August, 2012.
  • Vodafone 1.64 million users and Idea Cellular 1.55 users lost end of month August, 2012.
  • While Aircel and Loop Mobile gained in their growth of connections. They were added 793,717 new users (Aircel) and 79,842 (Loop Mobile) end of month August, 2012.
There are two reasons for fall in the Subscribe base for the above Mobile Operators.
What the analysts suggested reasons for fall of subscriber base?
  • The customers who are having multiple accounts which are not in use shut down account.
  • After the withdrawal of cheapest plans and hiking of Mobile tariff resulted shedding connections.
