BSNL announced Commercial launch of 4G LTE services in 14 Telecom Circles on revenue sharing basis

State run Telecom Company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Competent authority has approved for the commercial launch of 4G LTE services in 2500 MHz band and will float EOI (Expression of Interest) around mid of this month in 14 telecom circles on revenue sharing basis.

As per latest information, BSNL will be launching Ultra Fast 4G services in these telecom circles, Bihar, Orissa, Madhyapradesh, Assam, Himachalpradesh, Punjab, Kerala, Rajasthan, North East, Orissa, Haryana, UP (West), UP (East), Janmmu and Kashmir.

BSNL surrendered BWA spectrum in six telecom circles (Andhrapradesh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Kolkata, Tamilnadu and Maharashtra) and currently BSNL holds 20 MHz BWA spectrum in 2500MHz band for rolling out 4G LTE services in 14 telecom circles.

In a statement BSNL CMD Anupam Srivastava said, ‘BSNL management committee has approved rollout of 4G services. We are in process of issuing expression of interest for rolling out 4G services on revenue sharing basis. It should be issued around mid of this month. We will provide only bandwidth to technology service provider who will manage and operate 4G services’.

He also added, ‘The 4G services will further add to our subscriber growth. We are known for providing affordable service rates and we will always strive for meeting this expectation of people. We are also working to roll out 40,000 WiFi Hotspots across the country in two-three years which will compliment its 4G services’.

BSNL has the second largest mobile towers in India and after launch of 4G LTE services BSNL will join the league of 4G operators like Bharati Airtel, Vodafone, and Aircel.
