State run Telecom Company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has rolled-out WiFi services and Mobile Data Offload services (MDO) in 96 major locations in Kerala Circle and updated the latest list of WiFi locations installed in Kerala State.
BSNL already installed high-speed 4G plus i.e 4.5G WiFi Hotspots in Tourists places and major towns running successfully. Where, BSNL user can access free WiFi service without any restrictions by following registration process.
As per latest information, BSNL competent authority has decided for installing WiFi access points in all existing BSNL 2G mobile towers having very high speed data traffic.
What types WiFi services BSNL is running?
Retail WiFi Services (Public WiFi Services)
Mobile Data offload services (MDO Services)
Bulk User WiFi Services (Private WiFi Services)
Public WiFi services (Retail WiFi Services)
Under this services customer can enjoy High-speed Free WiFi services for first 15 minutes in a months for the same mobile number. After that customer has to purchase WiFi plans available in different denomination Online.Retail WiFi service (SSID: QFI-BSNL) refers to BSNL's Public WiFi Services which are directly available to general public i.e., retail customers. BSNL Public WiFi services are not limited to BSNL Customers alone. It means, customers of any telecom service provider will be allowed to access BSNL WiFi access point. General public having a valid mobile number will be allowed to access BSNL's WiFi Services.
BSNL MDO services (Mobile Data Offload)
BSNL's WiFi Mobile Data Offload Service (SSID: BSNL QMDO) is exclusively available for BSNL Mobile Customer (both prepaid & postpaid). BSNL MDO Hotspot is a location where BSNL mobile customers can access Mobile internet through wide band WiFi networks for faster speed, once they enter into the Hotspot area. BSNL QMDO services are available on all WiFi enabled mobile handsets which support EAP-SIM-AKA. The customer should also have an active BSNL Data package (prepaid or postpaid)
Private WiFi Services (Bulk User WiFi services)
Bulk User WiFi service refers to BSNL's WiFi services purchased by other Business Firms / Organisations / Universities etc. for their internal usage. In this case, BSNL will be setting up WiFi hotspots in those locations as requested by the customer ( Eg: College Hostels / College Campus / Shopping Malls etc.). BSNL offers different bandwidths in bulk user plans
