Rs.5000/- will cost telecom service providers on each pesky calls

Telecom-Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) passed several instructions and SMSes despite attempts to control the menace of unsolicitated calls on Telecom Operators whose network are used by various marking companies for their business to promote their product disturbing consumers attempting with unwanted communications. Now, TRAI warned Telecom Services providers to impose financial penalties on and blacklisted those companies violated by them on pesky calls from banks, insurance firms and builders.

TRAI warned telecom operators to impose Rs.5000/- as penality for every complaint received against unwanted calls and messages lodging. “if on verification of a complaint, it is found that the Unsolicited Commercial Communications (UCC) has been sent by a subscriber who is not registered as telemarketer”.
TRAI also pointed out that most of the calls or messages received by consumers on behalf of banks, insurance companies and builders are not directly official. These Companies are engaging third parties agents, franchisees, distributors and retailers who are not registered as telemarketers with TRAI are come under violation of TRAI regulations.

Last year in November TRAI fixed a daily limit of 100 messages and warned telecom operators to abide rules and regulations.
Now on this new TRAI financial penalty imposition on telecom service providers for each complaint received from consumers would helpful for mobile users.
