Most of the BSNL customers are in uncertainty about usage of 2G SIM for high-speed data services. The existing and new customers are not having enough idea which SIM is suitable for their purpose for high-speed data services also voice calls. Lots of complaints are receiving daily in each BSNL Customer Service Centers about high-speed data applicability to 2G plans. In reply to above uncertainty BSNL competent authority has recently migrate all the existing 2G data subscribers to 3G data services with no speed restriction announced on occasion of Independence Day earlier, the details are as follows

"At present all BSNL SIMs are 3G SIMs. The distinction about 3G and 2G made while creating a number in the BSNL database of 14-08-2013 from 15-08-2013 BSNL has migrated all prepaid and postpaid mobile number customers as 3G users.

All SIMs having memory of 16K, 32K, 64K, 128K or 256K can be configured as 3G and work with performance at par. The SIM with memory capacity of 128k or 256k are needed in few cases where the use of SIM is required to be made for Mobile to Mobile kind of communication needing large size of application to reside inside SIM."

The BSNL 2G SIM mobile subscribers now can enjoy internet speed with equal to 3G data Services where BSNL 3G network is available.
BSNL already introduced Add On Data Pack (AODP) without any Speed Restrictions.
