State run Telecom Company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to introduce its 4G smartpone B-1 to compete its telecom rival Reliance Jio Phone in India mobile market.

As per latest information, BSNL and Micromax have partnered to launch the Bharat-1 a feature phone with 4G VoLTE capability at Rs.2200 which offers Unlimited data and voice calls at Rs.97 per month. B-One phone supports over 22 Indian languages and powered by entry level Snapdragon processor having 2000mAh battery capacity with 2-megapixel rear and VGA camera.

In a statement Micromax Co-founder Rahul Sharma said that, ‘The Bharat-1 will cost less than Jio Phone over time, given the lower cost of running it and have access to over 100 live TV channels, alongside hours of songs and videos’.

While launching the service Telecom Minister Shri Manoj Sinha said, ‘I am glad that BSNL has come with 2 new schemes. This will not only increase BSNL subscribers but also strengthen their financial position. On monthly recharge of Rs.97, BSNL will provided Unlimited calling and data on Bharat Phone. I believe that BSNL will get a special spot in the ongoing competition in the sector. I am announcing that the digital education service will be free for first 15 days’.

BSNL at present providing high-speed 3G services and is planning to upgrade it for 4G services from January, 2017. BSNL will offer 4G services in spectrum that it presently uses for 3G services. The company is also working to start 4G services in broadband spectrum that it acrquired 2010.
