Avoid Deactivation of Prepaid, Postpaid Mobile Number not in use

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) announced new regulation which allows a relief to consumers of Prepaid Mobile services and Postpaid Mobile services.

The new regulation of Consumer Protection makes prepaid connections safe having minimum balance of Rs.20 and the time period of 90 days to avoid disconnection.

The new amendment of TRAI made Telecom Operators, No Mobile connection of a prepaid consumer will be deactivated for non-usage if an amount exceeding Rs.20 and non-usage for a minimum period of 90 days or such longer period.

Under this new regulation Telecom operators will be allowed to deduct an amount not exceeding Rs.20/month based on balance in mobile is inactive till the number is not deactivated which reach to Rs.20. TRAI observed that around 20 crore prepaid numbers were under deactivation which are not in use for a period of 30 days having balance of Rs.6 only.
TRAI says, the deactivation of prepaid mobile number consumer will be allowed Grace period of 15 days to reactivate their mobile number.
For Postpaid the numbers not in use exceeding three months customers will be charged Rs.150/month if they apply for safe custody scheme to retain their mobile number not exceeding Rs.150/month instead of charging Monthly rental.
