BSNL could roll out Hybrid 4G in the next 10 months

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has come up with two different plans to accelerate the Hybrid 4G services rollout process across India.

Public Telecommunications Company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has come up with two different plans to accelerate the 4G rollout process in the country. BSNL's first 4G tenders had to be scrapped because the government didn't want telecoms to buy its networking equipment / equipment from foreign suppliers.

BSNL Hybrid 4G in the next 10 months

But a rapid roll-out of 4G is needed to ensure telecom survival amid competition with private operators that control most of the market.

Two plans suggested by BSNL to rollout 4G Hybrid services

As per latest information from telecommunications company, to the Government of India BSNL has suggested two plans. It is worth noting that both plans involve splitting the offer into two parts. Let's take a look at the first plan.

In the foreground, as previously mentioned, BSNL recommended dividing the offer into two parts. The first part will include 50,000 sites for Indian providers and the other part will include 50,000 sites for foreign providers such as Nokia, Samsung and Ericsson.

The telecom company said Indian suppliers can also participate in the second part of the plan if they can successfully complete tests of their technology in time.

In its second plan, BSNL again recommended splitting the offering into two parts. The second plan will focus on the five zones of India. Of the five zones, BSNL recommended reserving one zone for Indian suppliers and the other four for foreign suppliers.

The telecommunications company has asked the government to favor the first plan, as it will allow Indian suppliers to acquire a significant amount of business. So far, none of the Indian suppliers have provided telecommunications with proven technology for a core network.

BSNL has communicated the same to the government. If local companies can complete all tests in time, BSNL could roll out its 4G network in the next 10 months.

But if the tests take longer than expected, the implementation time may be extended.

BSNL 4G Launch: Tech Mahindra is likely to bid on the BSNL 4G Tender

Tech Mahindra is the fifth largest IT service company likely to participate in BSNL 4G Launch tender and makes half of its revenue by serving telecommunications companies.

India's fifth largest IT service company, Tech Mahindra, is participating into the tender reviewed by BSNL to supply BSNL 4G equipment.

BSNL 4G Launch: Tech Mahindra is likely to bid on the BSNL 4G Tender
Tech Mahindra will join ITI and other local companies that have experience in creating telecommunication software and services. As reported by ET Telecom in, C.P. Gurnani, who is CEO and Managing Director of Tech Mahindra, said the company is ready to build the digital highway for 4G or 5G.

He also added that the technology is mature and that the network transition can be done to create enough bandwidth.

Last week BSNL canceled the 4G launch tender

Since the Indian government has banned Chinese telecommunications manufacturers from supplying telecommunication equipment to state-owned BSNL and MTNL telcos, BSNL canceled the offer last week to update its existing networks at 47 network sites. Not only that, but the state-owned telecommunications company is also working on creating new features in Delhi and Mumbai for MTNL.

When the state-owned company Telco canceled the tender, the Chinese telecommunications equipment manufacturer ZTE joined Nokia to present an offer, which amounts to around Rs 9 billion.

C.P. Gurnani also noted that the Tech Mahindra-led business association would offer a virtual network. Tech Mahindra already earns half of its revenue by serving various telecommunications companies such as BT Plc, AT&T and many others.

Tech Mahindra is looking for a Global market

Tech Mahindra and ITI are planning to dive into the global market with their 4G and 5G equipment. The process will be based on the success of the BSNL 4G tender and the implementation of the solution.

In 2018 Tech Mahindra invested in the American company Altiostar, which develops software that offers virtual solutions for 4G and 5G networks. Telecommunications companies, with the help of Altiostar solutions, can build an end-to-end cloud network. C.P. Gurnani noted that Tech Mahindra is awaiting the new tender and association for the internal market.

In addition, the company will globalize the solution for international markets.

BSNL 4G in India: Detailed Analysis report on Re-issue tender for 4G equipment

State owned Telecommunications in India BSNL 4G may redraft tenders to Indian companies to design and manufacture 4G equipment after Niti Ayog's recommendations.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited - BSNL has been trying to scrape the idea of using Chinese equipment for the 4G services for some time in the backdrop of the violent India-china face off in Galwan.
BSNL have faced many obstacles in the process.

BSNL 4G in India: Detailed Analysis report on Re-issue tender for 4G equipment
The biggest of these is the "Make in India" government initiative. When it was discovered that BSNL was awarding the tender to foreign companies, this move by the telecommunications company was contested. It was said that it was not in line with the "Make in India" government vision, which is true.

So now, Niti Aayog has released that all equipment distributed for BSNL 4G network should only be made in India.

Huawei and ZTE could lose the BSNL tender

In the event that the government accepts the proposal made by Niti Aayog 'government of India, companies like Huawei and ZTE will lose the BSNL offer. In addition to them, European companies such as Nokia, Ericsson and the South Korean tech giant Samsung will also miss the opportunity to win the BSNL tender. (Trick to Check 4G compatibility of Your phone)

Despite the fact that Ericsson and Nokia manufacture telecommunication equipment in India, intellectual property rights (IPR) and product design and development take place only in a foreign country. The news is first reported by Financial Express.

BSNL and DoT must trust the Indian ecosystem

In a meeting recently held under the chairmanship of VK Saraswat, it was decided that BSNL and DoT should learn to trust the Indian technological ecosystem. The government-run telecommunications company must offer Indian companies and citizens the opportunity to design and manufacture 4G equipment.

This ingenuously designed developed and manufactured (IDDM) model could become a solid foundation for the telecommunications company for the Future launch of 5G and will help BSNL keep up with market competition.

During the meeting, it was agreed that there are sufficient resources and skills in India that can provide BSNL with world-class quality equipment for its 4G implementation. If this is so, it will be the true testimony of the fact that the government supports what it says, which is an "Atma Nirbhar Bharat". India will stop relying on international equipment companies, which is definitely a good thing.

What are the adverse impact on Global telecom?

As per telecom latest news from business standard, the Niti Ayog move if executed the telecom gear manufacturers not only china companies Huawei and ZTE but also European majors Ericson and Nokia will loose BSNL's ensuing 4G tenders. (Improve BSNL 4G Internet speed within minutes)

In the first phase of 4G roll-out system integrator's should show proof of concept say in a location like the andaman with existing products. Third phase would be to scale up roll out across the country with dual feature 4G and potential upgrade to BSNL 5G network in India.
