Most major telecommunications service providers (TSPs) have begun to sign agreements with M2M / IoT service providers who, in turn, will provide services to end customers using the connectivity provided by TSPs.

BSNL and Skylotech India jointly launched Satellite based IoT network

In association with Sylotech India BSNL launched the world's first satellite-based Internet of Things network (IoT network) beneficial to farmers, fishermen, construction companies, mining and logistics companies in India.

Public Telecommunications in India BSNL has made the satellite-based Internet of Things (IoT) a reality in India. Launched for the first time in the world, BSNL in partnership with Skylotech India is introducing a satellite-based narrow-band IoT network that will be beneficial to farmers, fishermen, construction companies, mining and logistics companies in India.

BSNL and Skylotech India jointly launched Satellite based IoT network

BSNL's satellite-based narrowband IoT services fulfill the Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision of a truly digital India. With this solution, India will now have access to a ubiquitous connectivity fabric for millions of still disconnected industrial IoT machines, sensors and devices. This Made in India solution, developed in-house by Skylo, will connect with BSNL's satellite terrestrial infrastructure and provide PAN India coverage, including the seas of India.

Coverage will be so broad that it won't create dark spots within India's borders, from Union Territories Kashmir - Ladakh to Kanyakumari, and from Gujarat to the northeast, including Indian areas.

It will be suitable for the effective distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine in 2021.

In a statement Shri.PK Purwar CMD, BSNL reported to Indian media that, "The solution aligns with BSNL's vision of leveraging technology to deliver innovative and cost-effective telecommunications products and services across all customer segments."

He further said: "Skylo would also help deliver critical data for the logistics sector to enable effective distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine in 2021 and can make a significant contribution to serving the nation."

On this occasion of launch, Shri Parthsarathi Trivedi, CEO and co-founder of Skylo, reported to Indian media that: "For centuries, industries such as agriculture, railways and fishing have operated offline and have not had the opportunity to take full advantage of the latest advances in Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things. This is the world's first satellite-based narrow band IoT network and I am proud to launch this capability in India as the first to transform lives and our national industries".

Shri Vivek Banzal Director (CFA), BSNL Board, reported to Indian media that: "BSNL and Skylo have already successfully conducted Proof of Concept (POC) in India and we will be in contact with various user groups soon before the start of the new year 2021".

This groundbreaking announcement is very timely because it occurs during the ongoing Indian Mobile Congress 2020. This new technology supports the Department of Telecommunications and NITI Ayog's plan to bring indigenous IoT connectivity to India's key sectors. Examples of places where this technology has already been successfully tested include: Indian railways, fishing boats, and connected vehicles across India.

A small, smart and incredibly robust box, Skylo's "user terminal" interacts with sensors and transmits data to the Skylo network and into people's hands. The attached data platform offers an immersive visual experience for industry-specific applications on mobile or desktop. It gives the user the power to take immediate and appropriate action, regardless of where they're.

Skylo Hub Installation Video on Fishing Boats

This new level of digital machine connectivity will serve as a complement to smartphone-centric mobile and WiFi networks, spanning the whole geography of India to bring new applications online for the primary time.

POC conducted in Kerala at Ernakulam & Kollam for the Department of Fisheries, Govt. from Kerala
BSNL in partnership with Skylo conducted POC (IoT Center Operation Demonstration) in Ernakulam & Kollam for the Kerala Government Fisheries Department. Skylo hubs installed on boats are used to provide satellite-based IoT services to control, monitor and monitor fishermen and their boats.
